Children's Liturgy if the Word

Children's Liturgy if the Word

The Mass and its readings can be difficult for our younger children to understand and comprehend. Twice a month, at our 8:30 am Mass, we offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW) is an age-appropriate Liturgy of the Word offered for ages 3 through 4th grade at the 8:30 AM Mass. No pre-registration is necessary. All children are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Before the first reading, the Presider will invite the children to participate. When dismissed, they move to the Education Center. During this special time, the volunteer teacher leads the children through prayers, songs and the same readings that adults hear, but in more age appropriate language. Following the readings is an age appropriate reflection in which, they are taught a simplified main message of the readings and are encouraged to share that message with their parents after Mass.

The children will return to their families in Church at the presentation of the gifts.

Volunteers are needed to teach the lessons each week, as well as to assist with the supervision of the children. This is a great opportunity for adults and middle school/high school youth to help these eager youngsters learn the Word of the Lord.
