The Mass, the celebration of the Eucharist, is the "source and summit" of the whole church, the People of God. 

We gather at the summit to acknowledge our God, the source of our being all our days. 

In order for these celebrations to be effective, we need a great many helpers, whom we refer to as ministers, both at the altar and behind the scenes.
